AGRICULTURAL COLLABORATION AGIOI APOSTOLOI OF LAKONIA

For years and years, the Vatican farmers lived their simple life with hard work without a fair reward. Until some founders found and found the solution to overcome the difficulties. Because where there is goodwill, courage and willingness for a single job, there is the way forward. The thought of the patrons was simple and reasonable. Everyone needed to see and believe what was obvious, to join forces to become stronger. So it did not take long to make the beautiful Vatika of Laconia opposite the island of Aphrodite, Kythera, the historic rock of Monemvasia and next to the oldest sunken state of the world, Pailopetri, to create in 1982 a modern olive mill. For 30 consecutive years he offers his services to his 521 members and not only. He has made every possible opportunity to benefit hard-fought farmer farmers by trying to secure a decent income for themselves and their families by encouraging them not to give up the land that they hurt and care about.

Thus, the main goals of the cooperative are:

  • the processing of the olives and the production of extra virgin olive oil,
  • the standardization and disposal of olive oil,
  • the protection of growers and members of the cooperative,
  • the preservation of the Vatikán olive cultivation.
  • The cooperative currently has one of the most modern mills in Greece that meets the latest standards of safety and quality assurance of the olive oil it produces. Olive oil is produced at low temperatures that do not exceed 30 degrees in order to preserve all its valuable ingredients, antioxidants, vitamin E and polyphenols. The dynamics of the olive mill reach about one thousand tons of extra virgin olive oil, ranging from 0.25% to 0.5% acidity!
  • The olive oil season in Vatika begins in the early days of October. The climatic conditions of the region as well as the unique variety of Athenolaia allow us to produce olive oil before harvesting in other areas. So our cooperative is the first to supply fresh extra virgin olive oil to consumers worldwide!
  • Our cooperative also has a modern standardizer to pack extra virgin olive oil and be available to the consumer.
